Sandra undertook a Biology degree before joining Professor Twink Allen’s Equine Fertility Unit (EFU) in Newmarket in 1999 where she worked until its closure in 2007. She has published 70+ peer-reviewed papers on topics including placentation in equids and large African mammals, embryo transfer, embryo vitrification, and early pregnancy in the horse. Her PhD was completed in 2009 while working alongside Twink Allen at The Paul Mellon Laboratory, prior to their move to Sharjah Equine Hospital in the UAE in 2016. She has contributed to veterinary textbooks and presented at numerous conferences and workshops worldwide to veterinary, scientific and lay audiences.
